Still here promise...

So it's Friday and I've made it through a WHOLE week at home with my baby and my family without having to hit up the hospital. We did have some drama with home health but nothing a few tears of frustration didn't fix.

Unfortunately I feel like a prisoner in my own home. I am a new mommy and I LOVE IT but I feel like I haven't been able to incorporate her into my every day life yet. We haven't gone out on any outings, ::craving a Target run:: I haven't really started working on a routine for her, and we haven't gone out to visit family and friends. I want to show her off soooo bad! Unfortunately I still have some restrictions but the OB who delivered Lydia said at my appointment yesterday that everything is healing well and my nurse is soo impressed. So I'm hoping that is the light at the end of the tunnel I see! I think that graduation open houses will be our big coming out party and I can't wait to dress her up and take her out!

Here are a few milestones or firsts we have experienced since I've been home:

-As we speak she is napping in her crib! Holy crap she usually won't sleep in anything but her swing, the lamb seat, or someones arms

- She actually projectile spit up on Laura yesterday (she usually just spits a little but nothing major)

- She got her first bath

- She actually followed my face with her eyes the other day, it takes her a while to focus and realize that I kind of moved out of her eye site but she always tries to follow my voice, I love that she knows her mommy's voice

- She pooped up her back for the first time, then kicked her feet in it and got it all over changing pad cover and herself.... yay for mom not having a bad gag reflex... daddy isn't so good at that part

More milestones and stories to come as Lydia and I start our journey together, hopefully this midline will be out of my arm on Wednesday and I can start feeling like a normal person of society and not a hermit!!

Enjoy your weekends all.... here are a couple pics of Lydia to leave you with :) Ahhh I could eat her up she's so cute!

Recovery Update

Well I am home again. I'm dreading Sunday because the last 2 Sundays I have ended up at the hospital so I'm really hoping we make it to Monday at home!

Turns out after all the blood work, CT Scan, wound consults and the rest of the poking and prodding I have a staph infection, luckily it is not antibiotic resistant and they were able to start pumping me full of the correct infection killing antibiotics right away (they had just picked the one that covered the most possibilities since I was admitted).

I met with the Infectious Disease Doctor a few times and he sent me home with a midline in my arm (a large iv that will stay in my arm until he says I'm in the clear) so I get antibiotics through that 3 times a day thanks to my husband who does it before work, comes home during work, and after he gets home from work to do this. I also get my wound changed 2 times a day, right now by a good family friend first thing in the morning and then again by the nurses from home health.

This is something that right now I'm having a hard time dealing with the seriousness that this really was, when I was in the hospital all I was thinking about was how I wasn't with my baby but now that I think back on it and I've gotten some honest answers from people this could have been really ugly and if not caught in time, life threatening. I am thankful that we went to the ER Sunday night after I had a temp instead of waiting until Monday morning when I was supposed to see the Dr. anyway.

It is nice to hold my baby and it helps getting through my painful wound changes when I can hear her lamb seat buzzing and singing her to sleep in the next room. She is the only reason I am getting through this the way I am. Yes I have my weepy days (thank you post partum emotions on top of all of this) but in the end I have optimistic family and friends and a beautiful daughter surrounding me almost every minute of every day (I have babysitters for myself and Lydia lined up every night for the next day)

So now I leave you with the bright spot in my darkness that was this situation. My beautiful and most perfect Lydia Rose!

Prayers Needed!

I wanted to take a moment and ask all of my Jesus loving prayin mama's out there to give me a shout out today when speaking with HIM.

Yesterday while getting ready to take a shower I noticed my incision was gushing so I called the Doc on call and she sent me into the ER but found no openings or anything so they let me go with an antibiotic. Well a little after dinner time I started getting the chills, took a nap and woke up with a 101 degree temp and ended up back in the ER.

I have been here ever since with my incision being packed and then poked and prodded some more, multiple iv's, cat scan and all to not even really know what this infection is. It is so frustrating and I can't help but cry about every 10 min because this is not how child birth was supposed to go, I was supposed to be sitting at home with my baby recovering while friends and family helped us and oooo and awww'd over her.

I am frustrated and upset but most of all I'm missing out on precious hours with my newborn Lydia. I am thankful for our supportive family and for all they have done, she is in good hands but unfortunately those hands are not mine.

Thanks for the prayers and the thoughts in advance, you have all become a great support system for me and I appreciate it soooo much!

Hope you all had a good Mother's Day, especially the newbies, you deserved it!

Lydia's Journey Into This World

It all started at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday morning when I got up for what I thought was just going to be a normal pee visit, I was making many by now. Well I was wrong, bloody show appeared, and my contractions started right after I returned to bed. They were pretty mild and I could lay through them and not have much pain but they were coming about 10 min apart. So I couldn't sleep anymore in hopes that maybe this was actually happening. So I came out put in a movie (27 dresses) and when 5:00 came around and I was still having contractions every 10 min I went in to tell Matt that she was probably going to be making her appearance soon.

Well....the contractions kept coming but they started spacing out. They were getting longer and stronger but they would jump from 6 or 7 min apart to 15 min apart. So Matt and I hung around the house, showered, put our stuff together, walked our court, watched a movie, and played a game of UNO. During all of this my contractions were super strong and I would have to stop and get into a better position to get through them as they were mostly a min to a min and a half long.

Finally at about 4 or so they had consistently been 5 or 6 min apart for an hour so we called the Dr. and he said it was reasonable to go ahead and come in since I had been laboring all day. He couldn't promise that they would keep me but to go ahead and go in. So we arrived at the hospital and were in the triage room by about 5:15 and I was already at 5 cm! I was so proud of myself for making it that long at home. So we were admitted and sent to our labor and delivery room. This was actually happening!!

Here it took 4 attempts at an iv and have I mentioned before I hate them, I mean terrified pass out getting those things done and it took 4 times ugggh. But then once we got all settled and I was hooked up for a bit I was able to get my epidural which i was also very terrified of but without reason it really was no big deal, the iv was worse. So by 7:30 I was comfortable and laboring at the hospital and I was at about 6 cm at that time.

Things started slowing down so they started pitocin and put an internal monitor in, which was great because I would look over see a HUGE contraction going on and really not be able to tell! What a lifesaver those things are. So by 11:30 I was 10 cm and it was almost time to start pushing. I had a little bit of cervix left so they let me go about 15 min while my nurse (who was AMAZING by the way) got the room set up. By a little before midnight I was pushing and working hard. Good thing is you have enough time to rest in between pushes and get your breath back.

Unfortunately I had a bad feeling once I had been pushing for almost an hour and she called the Dr. in to watch my progress. She kept saying I was doing a great job and moving her down with every push but it wasn't moving as fast as I though it would. So the Dr. came in and monitored me for about half an hour and didn't say one word the whole time. ugggggh anxiety came creeping in on me as i thought of the next options for me and baby. He let me go for 15 more min and then came back. Unfortunately my pubic bone was too rounded and wasn't leaving her enough room to get her head around it. So he thought it was safer for me and the baby if they took her via csection after 2 hours of pushing ::cries::

I felt awful for crying but this wasn't in the plans I was supposed to be able to deliver my baby naturally just like my mom did with all her babies. I was scared of being awake as my insides are placed on a table and a baby is squeezed and pulled from my body. My husband was great and started to gear up, he loved his operating room outfit. The next thing you know I'm in the OR and the anesthesiologist (an amazing man!!) was at my head and talking me through my nerves. 15 min later the best sound in all of the world filled the room and my little lydia was brought to the warmer next to me. She was only 7lb 12oz (ultrasound WAYYYY off) but absolutely perfect!

It helped me get through the rest of the procedure by looking at my beautiful baby girl being worked on and loved on by her daddy. It was uncomfortable yes and I was shivering like no other but knowing she was ok and she was here made it all a little better.

She was born at 2:38 a.m. Monday May 3rd, almost exactly 24 hours from my first contraction. What a looong day but with one amazing gift at the end of it!!

I won't go into how my recovery is going but my baby girl is healthy and perfect and the confidence I have in myself and what my body can handle and go through has drastically changed.

So now we begin Life with Lydia :)
